Beer History Mondays and Disneyland

posted on December 5, 2008 in Beer Miscellany,Likwid Bred Site News

I will write about some chapter in the history of beer each Monday. It’ll be a short post, not a lecture with things that I think are interesting in the history of beer. I’ll try to start at the beginning and work my way forward.

On another note I just got back from Disneyland and it’s tough to find anything different around the park. I did have a Firestone DBA (Double Barrel Ale) which I’d never tried before. It was pretty good. Sweet with a bit of hops but balanced. It had a nice amber color and a malty aroma. Nothing special but a good restaurant beer.

What Was Your Thanksgiving Beer?

posted on November 28, 2008 in Craft Brewers,Likwid Bred Site News

My Thanksgiving wasn’t much in the way of beer (the food was great). We had Fat Tire Ale. I’d never had it before and thought it was a good supermarket beer but nothing really special. It was somewhat hoppy and clean tasting but lacked the complexity that I generally like in a beer.

Don’t forget to take a break, have a nice dunkleweizen or a hearty oatmeal stout and be thankful for what you have… And good beer!

Another Beer Blog

posted on November 21, 2008 in Likwid Bred Site News

This is another one of those beer blogs.

I’ve been drinking beer for years and brewing it for a much shorter time and I have a true love for good beer. There aren’t many things in this world that can compare to a well-crafted glass of malty goodness. As anyone who’s brewed their own knows, it takes a great deal of dedication to the craft to do it well and consistently. Beer is also good for you – in moderation. It’s been a staple in people’s diets for the last 8000 years. At one time it was considered more of a food than a drink, hence the term “liquid bread” and the name of this blog. I’m hoping that I can create a place that people who love beer can come and get information and even contribute to the conversation about this, one of the world’s oldest beverages, beer.

As Benjamin Franklin said, Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy“. I agree – it’s at least proof that someone wants us to be happy.
